David Goodman deserves surname after stopping robbery

Who says lawyers never do anything worthwhile? London solicitor David Goodman certainly did this week, earning plaudits in the Evening Standard after preventing a ram-raid at chi-chi accessory emporium Anya Hindmarch.

Goodman, travelling home to Chelsea by cab, saw four men ramming a scooter into the front door of the calf-botherer’s New Bond Street store. When told to stop, they did as they were told, getting back onto their bikes and razzing off up the street the wrong way.

The have-a-go-hero, who runs his own firm on Newman Street, W1, is clearly practiced at interventions, listing ‘mediation’ as a speciality on his LinkedIn profile. He is also used to thinking in the moment, having delivered ‘live on air commentary for Sky and ITV on breaking news items.’

Anya Hindmarch, for those unacquainted with the beau monde, has a client list that includes Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss and Reese Witherspoon. The bag pictured above is a snip at just £695 – perfect as an early Valentine’s present, perhaps. AB
