West country stalwart Osborne Clarke tied the knot this week with Italian stallion SLA Studio Legale Associato and its Spanish counterpart Osborne Clarke Spain.

Through their union, the newlyweds have become a major player on the continent, with an anticipated global turnover of approximately £117m (€140m) and a headcount of 900. The firm will have bases in Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Padova and Brescia – perfect for that cheeky mini-break.

Of course with every merger comes the obligatory reshuffle and OC have wasted no time in shuffling the deck. The firm will now be governed by an international council, led by Spanish senior partner Tomás Dagá, with Simon Beswick top of the pack as Chief Executive.

The Osborne Clarke Alliance partners, who’ve been together for 25 years, announced their intention to take their relationship to the next level back in March. The firms hope that their new pulling power will give them the flexibility to pursue their own domestic and international growth plans, whilst offering their clients a bigger and better service.

Mr Beswick commented: ‘By combining three firms that are each known for their commitment to client
service, user-friendly style and depth of sector knowledge, we have created a business that is more than the sum of its parts.

‘We have made no secret of our international ambitions and, in particular, the fact that we are looking to launch in Paris over the coming months.’
