Simmons robs Frankfurter from Freshfields with relish
Ich bin ein Frankfurter
Simmons & Simmons has expanded its Frankfurt office this month with the hire of finance partner Dr Wolfgang Kotzur. Dr Kotzur, who joins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, is the third new acquisition for the firm’s finance team. He’ll focus on acquisition finance, infrastructure finance, real estate finance and restructuring. Wunderbar, etc.
White-wash in Washington
Allen & Overy has added not one, not two, but three new names to its Washington DC office. Jeffrey Lehtman and William White have joined as partners in its leading U.S. securities and financial services regulatory practice, whilst John Terzaken, the director of criminal enforcement for the US Justice Department’s antitrust division, has come on board as head of its cartel defense practice.
Big coup in the Big Apple
Also across the pond, Herbert Smith has poached a team of six commercial litigation partners from Chadbourne & Parke. The six partners (Thomas Riley, Gregory Loss, David Wallace, Allison Alcasabas, Joseph Falcone and Philip Pfeffer) will help the firm build its disputes capability in New York when the new office opens in September. Far out, etc.
Finally, back home, where Norton Rose are glowing after recruiting its first London criminal law specialist. Former Bindman’s partner Neil O’May, who acted for Lord Levy during the cash-for-honours scandal, joins to help build the firm’s criminal and regulatory expertise. Jolly super, etc.
